Mother's Day & Birthday Day Cards

I am ahead of the game this month!  I have both of my Mother's Day cards finished and my Sweeties' dad's birthday card finished!  I have my son's birthday card started and should have it finished tomorrow!  Woo Hoo!  I am usually finishing my cards at the last minute, for some reason, this month I seem to have oodles of extra time, or maybe it is extra energy...lol...so here they are!

I have repurposed this card again.  It is the third time I have posted it, but have made changes everytime.  It is now my Sweetie's mom's Mother's Day card.

I added the word "Mom" to the front using DCWV rubons.  On the inside I stamped a phrase inside of a frame on the top and "Happy Mother's Day" on the bottom.

Here is the birthday card I made for my Sweetie's dad.  He is really into hunting and I have such a hard time with masculine cards.  I had some stickers that I hoped I could make work for a card without it looking like a sticker sneeze...lol!  I think it turned out okay.

I first tried some patterned paper that looked like grass, but it looked ginormous compared to the stickers, so I thought I would try to make my own.  I used four different colors of ink, two browns and two greens and used a dauber to pounce it onto cardstock.  When I thought it looked okay I took several different colors of colored pencils and tried to make a grass pattern.  It didn't show up in the photo to well, but that was my technique...lol!

Some of the stickers are popped up on dimensionals.  I wanted it to look like the deer was walking out of some trees and startled the ducks.  For the tree on the left, I had two of them so I layered one on top of the other.  The middle tree is stuck to the cardstock and the tree on the right is popped up on dimensionals to make it look like the deer is hiding behind it.  The deer is popped up on dimensionals to make it look like he is standing in front of one tree and behind the other.  Two of the ducks and two of the clouds are also popped up on dimensionals.

For the inside I used a 4" x 6" sheet from a mat stack by DCWV, cut it down to size, tied a ribbon around it and that side was done.  I mounted a piece of cardstock to the other side and stamped Happy Birthday on it.  I added the word "Dad" using some flocked sticker letters from my stash.  I also cut two strips of patterned paper from the other side, inked the edges, added brads to each end and popped it up on dimensionals.

That is all for tonight!  Have a great night!

Wedding Card

I got the card for my son and his soon to be wife done, I think.  I mostly like the front of it, but I need to redo the inside because I really don't like it.  I will have to think on it for a day or two and see if I can come up with something different.  Until then, here is the front.  I think it turned out okay.

I ran some C'oredinations cardstock through the cuttlebug using the heart embossing folder and then sanded it, punched the corners, used a Martha Stewart border punch to punch the bottom (I used this same punch on the invitations), added ribbon, a flower and some brads.

I painted the wedding dress and the tux with metallic paint, it doesn't show up well in the photo. I colored the rest of the image with colored pencils and baby oil.  I used a corner punch to round the corners, added some Stickles for a bit of bling, and there ya have it.

I still haven't taken pictures of the invitations and uploaded them, I need to do that.

I made a couple more flowers from scraps, a flower punch, Glimmer Mist, homemade Glimmer Mist and a couple of brads.  I think they turned out pretty good!  I will probably use these on a project for one of my DD soroity friends.  Seems like I always have something in the works there...lol!  I don't mind though, I am glad my DD found good friends at college that she can rely on, especially with her being so far from home!

Lastly, I got my mom's Mother's Day card done!  She loves Frogs, so I used a Penny Black stamp (minus the words and heart on the stamp) with two frogs on it.  I colored the image with colored pencils and baby oil.  I made some water also.  I sponged in the sky with a dauber and some ink from SU!.  For being my first time doing either of these techniques, I think it turned out pretty good.  The only thing I would change is the color of the lily pad!  I used some Stickles to bling it up a little.

I had a kit from something (can't remember where it came from or what it was suppose to be!...LOL!) laying around so I used some of it on this card.  I used a Sharpie and did some faux stitching, added some ribbon and Prima's with brads and there's the front!  I love stamping and coloring, just need to learn to do it a little better.  My shading is the worst, but oh well, it is homemade so therefore it won't be perfect!  At least that's what I keep telling myself!

For the inside I used more of the aforementioned kit, inked the edges, added some more faux stitching, used a border punch to punch one of the pieces of patterned paper,  stamped Happy Mother's Day and voila!  Card is done!  I added some paper clips that I found at Staples that she will like also!

I have three more cards I need to make this month, another Mother's Day card and two birthday cards.  So far I am ahead so that is good.  Usually I am doing them at the last minute.

Well I guess that is all for tonight!  Have a great night!

Relaxing day

I didn't get much accomplished today.  We had to run some errands today, and afterwards I just felt kind of lazy!  I did manage to pick up some new stamps and some bling...lol, what's a trip to the store without new supplies!

I did get the front of my son's wedding card stamped and colored.  I used some metallic paints and colored pencils to color it and used some stickles to bling it up a little.  Hopefully I will get it finished tomorrow.  I also have two Mother's Day cards to make and a birthday card, all three by May 11 so I better get busy!

Well that's it for today, it's time for bed!

Hope you all had a great day!

A new card

I finished a card today.  I love being able to play again, instead of working on invitations!  Don't get me wrong, I loved being able to create the invitations for my son's wedding, but I am also glad that they are finally done!

I have decided that this is the year to actually learn to use rubber stamps instead of just collecting them!  I still have a lot to learn when it comes to coloring them.  I really need to work on the shading, but I'll get there!  I have always loved to color so I am really enjoying myself!

Here is the card I made.

I used colored pencils and baby oil to color in the image.  The stamp is from Stampavie - Rachelle Anne Millers' Mouse Hug.  Isn't it just too cute!!  Looking at it now, I think I should have used the solid pink behind the image and the patterned paper as the mat.  Oh well, its done now and I think it is cute.

I also made two flowers out of scrap paper.  These are my first trys and I don't think they turned out too bad.

I used the same paper for both flowers.  I used Glimmer Mist, a homemade Glimmer Mist and different inks.  I used beads and embrodery thread on the centers to tie them together.  Not to bad for my first attempt!

Well, I think that is all for tonight!  Have a Great night!

Updated card

I finished the card I posted earlier and I think I am happy with it!  Here it is!

Have a great night!

Ahhhhh!!!

It feels sooooo good to have the invitations done! The day after I got them done I spent the day doing absolutely NOTHING! It was so nice to sit here and with my feet up, a cup of Yum and surf the internet. I did get a card almost completed yesterday. I haven't decided what greeting I am going to use on it yet, but it is colored and mostly assembled. I am thinking of putting "Imagine" on the front because of the colors I used, but haven't decided yet.

I am also going to post two other cards that I have had done for a while. I finally got pictures that aren't blurry, so I will post them today also.

The weather is beautiful here today. I think spring has finally sprung! I just hope we have more spring before summer temps hit and stay!

I think that is all for today. I am thinking of making a card, but not sure yet what I want to do today!

Have a great day! Kelly

Finally FINISHED!

The invitations were finished yesterday!  I stayed up the night before last ALL NIGHT working on the invites and my son and soon to be daughter-in-law came over yesterday and we knocked they out!  I feel like a new woman today!

I have been sitting here trying to decide what I want to do and the only thing I can come up with is NOTHING!...lol!  I can't remember the last time I just sat here and did nothing, it feels so good!  I have a cards that I finished up before the invite marathon that I need to take pictures of so that I can post them.  I used colored pencils and a blending pencil to color them.  I did finally find the blending stumps, so I am anxious to try those!

I have to finish taking pictures of the invitations and will post them maybe tomorrow.

Have a great night!

Squigglefly's blog hop

Squigglefly is having their first blog hop.  It runs until April 5th, so hop on over to Anita's blog where all of the fun begins.  Here is her blog addy:  http://cardsandcoffee.blogspot.com/

Have fun and good luck!

I'm still working on those invites!  I have to cut out the base for the invites, make the RSVP cards, make a LOT more embossed hearts for the invites and address ALL of the envelopes and I'm done!
I'm getting there and I'm liking the way they're turning out.  I think the kids like them also. They were over a couple of days ago to pick the design of the heart for the front of the invite.

Plugging away and hoping to be done SOON so I can play again!  I have some new nesties that are laying here just waiting to be used and some new stamps that I haven't been able to ink up yet!

Have a great day!

Australian Bushfire

I was just surfing different blogs and came across the Splitcoaststampers Non-Raffle to raise money for The Red Cross to help the people that were affected by this horrible disaster.  Please check it out and if you can, make a donation to help!  Here is the link to read more about this

I still haven't had a chance to play.  I am still working on the invites, I don't know why I decide to do these projects that seem utterly impossilbe when I am working on them!  It will be so worth it when they are done because [HOPEFULLY] my son will only get married once and only have a first wedding!  I am a bit anal when it comes to doing a project like this, so I'm sure that doesn't help!

Anyways, please check out the above site and hopefully I will be back to playing real soon!  I did manage to make a card or two last week, I don't know how well the pictures came out, but will try to post one.

Have a great night!

Coloring Fun

I have loved to color since I was child.  My grandma always kept coloring books and crayons on hand for when we visited (I was with my grandparents every chance I got!)  I would sit for hours and color.  I was so happy after having my children, when they were old enough to be able to color and give me a reason to buy coloring supplies!  I love opening a brand new box of crayons, they are so pretty, all shiny and new, never been used and I even like the smell of them!!

Anyways, I have never played much with colored pencils and I didn't know until recently that they could be blended and make whatever was colored look so much prettier!!  Here is my first real attempt using a stamp from Inkadinkadoo and for the most part Crayola colored pencils and a Prismacolor colorless blender pencil (I have some blending stumps ordered so I can do it the recommended way!)

I used GinaK pure luxury layering weight (chocolate kiss) cardstock for the base of the card.  I stamped my image on GinaK pure luxury base weight cardstock (white).  I didn't think that it mattered what kind of paper was used to stamp and color on, but have realized after using the GinaK cardstock that it really DOES matter and make so much of a difference!

My picture didn't turn out well at all so I will post it tomorrow when I have better light! Instead I will upload a layout of my DD that I did a while ago!

Thanks for looking!

Have a great night!

It's Been A While

It's been a while since I have posted anything new.  Has been crazy around here with my health problems and we have had two loved ones pass in the last two weeks.  Hopefully now things will settle down a little.

My son is getting married in May and I really need to start working on the invitations! Hopefully I will get started on them next week.

I have promised myself that this is the year that I quit collecting stamping supplies and start using them!  I think I have one card that I made using stamps on my puter, I will add that to this post when I am finished.  I thought my camera died but it turns out that my rechargalbe batteries quit working.  Who would have thought that rechargables go bad??  Not me!  They still work in my mouse!

I think Spring is trying to return here to NE Indiana!  We had a few really nice days last week!  Its cold today and is suppose to be for the next few days, but then it is suppose to warm up again!   I am sooo tired of winter!

Okay, that is enough for now!  I will try to find my newest card and get it posted!

This is a card I made using the tutorials and videos from stamptv.com  If you haven't checked this site out, you should!  GinaK does these wonderful videos showing different techniques, it's awesome for the beginner stamper like me!  She also put out her first kit to go along with the new site and I must say I was very impressed!  I didn't realize that paper really does make a difference in stamping and coloring!

This card is also for a challenge on the stamp Something blog  http://stampchallenges.blogspot.com/2009/03/favorite-somethings-challenge.html

The challenge is to create your favorite something.  Mine happen to be flowers!  So here is my attempt!

Okay, I'm really done for today!

Have a great night and check out all of blog candy that I posted in previouis posts today!

More Snow and Wintery Weather!

We have had such horrible weather for the last week!  My poor little car is buried and I'm not sure when we will be able to get it out!

I haven't done much of anything this week.  I'm on an antibotic and it is really upsetting my stomach.  My feeding tube doesn't go into my stomach, so anything I take by mouth goes into an empty stomach...ugh!

As for a project, I will post something else that I worked previously.

This is my daughter's senior picture.  Isn't she just beautiful!!  This is one of my favorite layouts of her to date!

Well I think that is it for tonight.  Maybe I will actually get something done tomorrow!

Have a great night!

Snowing here in NE Indiana

We are getting blasted again here in NE Indiana!  It has been snowing all day and is suppose to continue until tomorrow.  We are under a winter storm warning until 3 pm Saturday! ugh!

I am starting to put together the invitations for my sons wedding, getting the paper colors and type, the perfect font and font color and the layout of the invitation.  I have an idea rolling around in my head, I just hope it turns out as pretty as it looks in my head...LOL!

Here is another project from this summer.  Hopefully soon I will be posting current projects!

This is the Father's Day card I made for my Sweetie's dad.  I used my Silhouette to cut it out and a LOT of different papers.  The deer itself is cut out of a suede type paper.  Dad really liked it and still has it displayed!  I'm happy he liked it!

Well I guess I should get back to the wedding invitations!

Have a good night and stay inside if you're dealing with all of this snow!

Gazelle

I got my new Gazelle today!!  I am so excited to get to finally use it!  I've got it all installed, now waiting to have the time to acutally use it, hopefully Friday!

It's snowing here again!  It's suppose to snow every day until Saturday.  It's only January and I'm tired of winter already!

Here is another project I did over the summer.

This is a birthday card I made for my mom.  She loves frogs, and I think this frog is just adorable!  I used my Silhouette to cut her out and paper pieced her.  I used several different colors of metallic book cover stock.  I think she is just too cute!

I think that's it for today.  I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and it is a three hour drive one way!

Have a great night!

A set of letter I made!

I started this blog a while ago...but...and there is always a but...LOL!  I just haven't kept up with it!  I'm going to try to do a much better job at keeping it updated!

My new baby that I have been waiting to get my hands on since September will be here tomorrow!  I finally get my GAZELLE!! I am so excited!  I have a Silhouette now and really like it.  I just hate having to cut down 12"x12" sheets of paper or cardstock to fit the cutting mat [for the Silhouette its only about 7.5" wide].  It will also cut chipboard and fun foam and so on!!  I just can't wait!!

I made this set of letters over the summer for my DD's friend.  I have made several sets, and probably have several more sets to do.  I actually have a set started.

I think this is my favorite set of letters that I have done so far!

After I get said set finished, I am going to make the girls word books out of their sorority letters.  I think it will end up being about 14 or so word books, makes me tired thinking about it...LOL!  I like having these projects to look forward to, it gives me something to do and the girls really appreciate them.

Okay, I'm off to get the set of letters finished.  I have pictures of several projects that I made over the summer to post gradually.  So I will end with another picture!

This is the first set of letters that I altered!  These ones were for my DD's dorm room!  I'm so glad she liked them!

Thanks for looking!

hmmmmm....

Isn't it funny how time has a way of slipping away?  Like keeping up with a blog, I was going to start blogging every day [or at least every couple of days], and here its been MONTHS since my last entry...LOL!

Well, lets see, since my last entry we have been on a couple of mini vacations, we have gotten my daughter squared away at college and we are going on one of our last get aways of the season.  We are going to Cedar Point next weekend for Halloween Weekends!!  We both LOVE it!!  It makes me feel like a kid again!  I will definately {TRY} to post some of the pictures.  I just love all of the costumes and decorations, Cedar Point definately knows how to make the Halloween season fun!

I have been scrapping and making cards.  I finished my 'Card of the Month' last night for a Yahoo group that I belong to.  Maybe I can figure out how to post it.

Well, I guess that is all for now.  Off to figure out how to upload a picture!!

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

So much for keeping up with my blog!

Well, I was going to try to post to my blog every day, but I haven't done that :{ We did go on a mini vacation last week and are going again on Monday! We went to Indiana Beach last week for two days and had a great time! We are going to Cedar Point on Monday and coming home on Wednesday! We will slow down a little after that, so hopefully I will do a better job of keeping up with this blog!

I haven't done anything creative since I've been home. I did get our pictures and videos uploaded to the computer, but that is as far as I've got! I have been working on getting my fonts organized, still have a long way to go before that task is complete!

I have my monthly order from Zany Zinnia coming, it will probably be here Friday! I have an order started with A Cherry on Top, and I received a gift certificate from my Secret Sister from Bargainpack. com and I submitted my order last night. It might take a month before I receive the way they have been working lately, we'll see what happens this time!

My son is getting married next year and is talking of wanting a baby! Exciting but scary news at the same time. They haven't been together a year yet and are only 22, so I worry about that. Been there done that, but I truly hope what they are feeling is true and things work out for them! I try so hard not to be negative when I talk to him/them about it, but it is hard. It is very cool, on the other hand, to think that I could be a gramma soon! I am very excited and ready for that part of it!

Okay, I have babbled on enough for tonight! I am going to try and post a couple of photos from our latest trip. Wireless isn't working tonight, but I'm going to give it a try!

Have a great night!

Finished a Layout

I finished a layout today!! and finally uploaded some challenges to the Bunkhouse! I haven't participated in the challenges for a couple of months! Hopefully I will get some more finished by the end month. Well actually by next Wednesday because we will be gone the last three days of the month!

Put gas in my car today, $3.99 per gallon! $40 for a little over a quarter of a tank of gas!! Is that outragous or what??!!

I met Amanda at Wal-Mart. She hung out with me until my scripts were ready, which was about a half hour ~ 45 minutes. I picked the wrong day to get my prescriptions filled! I forgot it was a holiday weekend and I guess because of the holiday, everyone thought they should get their scripts filled.

I'm going to try to post some of my finished layouts and cards, if I can figure it out.

Thats enough for today!

Have a great night!

Thursday, May 22, 2008

I have been going to start a blog for a while now, but just haven't gotten around to it! So here goes nothing.  Hopefully I will keep this up to date and post my current projects for the day!

I haven't been doing a lot of scrapping. I have a Gazelle cutter pre-ordered so I have been trying to get my files and fonts organized before it gets here! I have thousands of fonts and I am starting to get quite a collection of cutting files also. I just want everything organized and ready for when my Gazelle finally arrives! I'm so very excited!

I currently have the Silhouette, but it doesn't cut chipboard or 12 x12. I'm going to keep the Silhouette for cutting smaller stuff so I don't wear out the Gazelle.

If I can figure out how to post pictures, I may add some of my latest projects later this evening!

Have a great night and happy scrappin'!
