Papertrey Ink ~ Make It Monday #38 Brayer Techniques Challenge

I've been wanting to play along with Papertrey Ink's challenges...but didn't have any of their products...Until now!!...so I was able to play along this week!!

Here is the card I made for the Brayer Techniques challenge...sorry for the bad photo...it was after dark when I took the pic and the lighting was bad!!:

and a close-up:

I haven't played with my brayer for along time...I really enjoyed making this card...

My card base is Gina K Designs cardstock...I embossed a piece of white cardstock with an embossing folder and then used a brayer and ink to add color...I cut part of the front away on both of the card base and the embossed piece...I used a piece of vellum and made a window...This took a few tries to get it just right...but it was worth the extra effort!!...I used a glitter pen to add glitter to the white swirls on the cardstock...and tied some blue Tulle around the card front...

Using the Flower Fusion #1 Stamp set from PTI...I stamped one of the flowers and the stem six times...I used the Flower Fusion #1 die to cut out the flowers...and cut the stems out by hand...The stems were glued together back to back...and attached to one set of the flowers...I used pop dots to layer the flowers together...a Quickie Glue pen was used to add MS glitter to the centers of the flowers...I added a strip of score tape to the top and bottom of the vellum piece...and attached the flowers and stems the back side of the front of the card...

The sentiment is from Unity Stamps...and I thought I was finished with the card...I didn't like the way the flowers looked through the vellum...and the glitter on the center flower wasn't completely dry and smooshed onto the vellum...so I decided to add Brads to the center of the flowers on the front...now it's done!!...I think!!!...LOL!!

Have a great night!!

Simon Says Stamp ~ Anything Goes Challenge

The card I made for this challenge is one I haven't tried before...a long skinny card!!...I was a little intimidated at first...but thought...just go for it!!...if you don't like it...you can always cut it down!!...so I went for it...and here is what I came up with!!...{and yes...I do talk to myself...out loud...and way too much...LOL}

and a close-up:

Aren't those flowers beautiful??!!...you can get them here I chose to print them and then cut them out by hand!!...I have three different cutting machines...and still cut most everything by hand!!...I love flowers and just had to try these!!...I made three different flowers instead of one large one like Mel shows on her site...I stamped each flower with Versa mark ink and then used a different stamp for each one...heat embossed...and colored with different Distress Inks...I then took a black Copic and edged each one...curled the edges...added a brad and some micro beads...and voila...three beautiful flowers for my card!!

The base of my card is from Papertrey Ink...This is the first card I made using this cardstock...and I have to say I LOVE it!!...I love the weight of it...It holds up really well to the other papers and embellies on the card!!

I used a piece of Gina K Designs cardstock and a background stamp from Stampin' up...I stamped with Weathered Wood Distress Ink...and then added some glimmer spray that I made...the glimmery-ness on the card doesn't show in the photo....but it really shimmers!!....I used a Fiskar's border punch on the bottom edge....added some ribbon...also from PTI....and adhered to my card base...

The sentiment is from Studio G...I stamped it with some Color Box ink...I cut the words "dare" and "to" out and then used a small circle punch to punch the individual letters out for the word "Dream"...inked the edges with black ink...and adhered to ribbon with pop dots...

I even made an envelope to match...scalloped edge and all!!

Thanks for looking!!

Have a Great Day!!!

Lily Pad Cards ~ Simon Says Stamps Texture Challenge

Here is the card I made:

and a close-up:

I made this card for a dear friend of ours!!...She is one of those women that you NEVER see without make-up...and she LOVES to rock her blue eye shadow!!

The card base is from Hero Arts...I ran a piece of Core'dinations cardstock through my die cut machine with an embossing folder...I sanded it so that the blue from underneath showed through...I layered that on top of another piece of the Core'dinations with the blue side facing up...I used a Fiskar's border punch to punch the flowers...I attached the flower border onto the blue cardstock and then sprayed it with Leather Glimmer mist...

The hearts in the corners is a corner punch...I have used it so much that it is actually broken...I just can't throw it away!!...I just have to carefully place the cardstock in it so that I can still use it!!

The oval doily shape is something that I bought...I can't remember who makes it...I'm pretty sure I purchased it at Simon Says Stamps...I used Faded Jeans and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks for the color on it and stamps "Hugs" with Versa Mark Ink and embossed it with white embossing powder...the sentiment is from Hero Arts...

The ribbon, bling and straight pins are from my stash!

Have a great night!!

CDAC PROGRESSIVE FREEBIE CHALLENGES

Here are the cards I made for this round:

The first card I made I used the awesome turkey image by  Sew Many Cards

and a close-up:

That turkey is just too cute!!

I used Kraft cardstock for the base...the patterned paper is from DCWV...I colored the turkey image with copics...the little things that look like dew drops...I made using a hot glue gun...and then colored them with Copics...I tried coloring them by putting them in a little baggie and then adding alcohol ink refills...but the colors weren't very vibrant...so I colored the backs using Copics....I added glossy accents to the hat and boots...the buckle on the hat was cut out of "metal" paper and then attached to a little piece of ribbon...I also added glossy accents to the pie pan...I wrapped some baker's twine around the card and tied a bow on the left side...

Here is the second card I made:

and a close-up:

This image is from Digis by Phooka  and also too cute!!

I was only going to add glitter to the hat...but I just couldn't resist glittering the whole thing!!...and I just love those googly eyes...all of the glitter except for the white on the hat is from Martha Stewart...the patterned paper and ribbon are from a CardMaker's kit...I had so much fun making this card, I might have to print the image again and see what else I can do with it!!

That's it for today!...I have a couple more calendars that I need to finish!

Have a great night!!

CDAC Progressive Challenge #4

Here is the card I made for the fourth challenge:

and a close-up:

This beautiful image is from Daisy Doodles Digital Stamps...I just had to use this image!!...I cut the inside pieces out to make it look kind of like a snowflake...I used smooches to color in the design and then added some glitter...I also added a glittered brad to the center...I used a black marker to  go around the edges...I think that helped to make it pop!!....the sentiment is stamped with white ink and embossed with white embossing powder...I added bling to the sentiment panel and on the top corners of the card...

Well that's it for today...The Tigers are playing and we're hoping for a win!!

Have a great evening!!

and here are a couple of the inner pages:

I have a big tin full of old buttons...and I hoard them...LOL!!...don't tell anyone!!...I did use some on this calendar!!...I really like the flower button in the above photo!!...I think that the cardstock used on this calendar are from DCWV...I used one of the new Nellie Snellen dies for the base...I made the calendar using Microsoft excel...I laid one calendar out...got everything like I wanted...and then copied and pasted several times in the same document...now all I have to do is open the file...select the font I want to use on each calendar and then send to printer!...Easy...Peasy!!

Lily Pad Cards ~ Simon Says Stamps Bling Challenge

I made this card for the Lily Pad Cards ~ Simon Says Stamps Bling Challenge All you have to do is use some bling on your card...That's the only restriction!!....You should go check it out!!

Here is my card!!...another Christmas Card!!...

and a close-up:

Isn't that Santa the cutest!!...my sweetie found this stamp when we shopping at Pat Catan's over in Ohio!!...the stamp was $1.43...how's that for a sale!!

I decided to go with non-traditional colors...I get tired of looking at red and green after a bit!!...I colored Santa with Copics...I added some "chunky" glitter to the trim of Santa's coat, pants and hat...I also added some glossy accents to his belt and boots to give it that patent leather shine!...I have had some "metal" papers laying around for a LONG time...I decided to make the belt buckle out of some...I turned the stamp over and laid the metal paper over it...I used a stylus to trace the shape of the buckle and then cut it out!!...it isn't perfect...but it gave me the desired affect I was going for!!...I also added a clear dew drop to the ball of Santa's hat!!...I think he turned out super cute!!

The NOEL letters are from another $1.43 stamp that my sweetie found!!....He's the greatest!!...I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped on white cardstock...I colored the letters with Copics and then cut them out...It doesn't show well in the picture...but I backed the opening in the letters with green glittered cardstock...

The paper is from Basic Grey and the ribbon, jingle bells and snowflake are from my stash...

That's it for now!!...Have a Great evening!!

Masculine Birthday Card

I cased this card that Britta Swiderski made...she has a video tutorial with the instructions and supplies...Here is my take on her card:

And a close-up:

I have a really hard time making masculine cards!!...I always want to add ribbon and bling...but then the card looks too girly!!...so when I came across Britta's video...I had to try it!!

This card was a lot of fun to make!!...The card base is 5 x 5 Kraft cardstock...I used the only cupcake stamps I had...from Inque See D's Party Cupcakes...I stamped the smallest cupcake on the card base with Versa Mark ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder...I sponged Distress Ink over the top and wallah...background paper!!...I then stamped the next larger cupcake onto Basic Grey's Obscure paper and cut them out....I stamped each one twice and cut the bottom off of half of them...then popped the bottoms up on the cupcakes with pop dots...I have a huge pile of tissue paper...so I thought...hmmmm....paper liners for the cupcakes!!...I sprayed white tissue paper with some glimmer mist...and let it dry...I them folded pleats and cut little rectangles out for the liners....I think they are sooo cute!!...the candles have some Stickles on the flames and glossy accents on the candles!!!

I used some ribbon and nail heads from my stash!!

Thank you so much, Britta, for the wonderful videos that you do!!...I get a lot of inspiration from your blog and videos!!

That's it for now!!...we are going to Cedar Point for the weekend!!...I can't wait...we go every year for the Hallo-weekends....It just sooo much fun!!

Have a Great Day!!

Halloween door-hanger

I found some stamps I forgot I had...and just had to use them!!...they are so cute!!....Here is what I made!!:

And some close-ups of the details:

I had so much fun making this!!...the back is almost exactly the same as the front...I hung it on my front door...so both sides are visible!!

Most of the images are from a Debbie Mumm Holiday set from '09...I think I got them at Joann's in a kit...the tree is from a kit from Paper Wishes...and the bats on the moon are from Studio G...

I used distress inks to make the background...another first for me!!...I had a lot of fun swirling the inks on...I did use a purple ink that wasn't distress ink...not sure what it was...but it worked just fine!!

I used a lot of Stickles on the pumpkins and scarecrow...isn't that scarecrow just too cute for words!!...and that kitty...trying to be scary...haha...I love all of the images from that set...I have another set from Debbie Mumm with a Christmas theme...going to have to check that one out a little closer also!!

Well that's it for me today...I have a mess to clean up in my crap room before I can start on my next project...LOL!!

Thanks for looking!!...and have a great evening!!

The Greeting Farm

EDIT:  I originally made this card for the challenge over at Young Crafters Unite...I wasn't going to join in on the fun...{because I'm not young...age-wise}....but the owners have invited EVERYONE to participate....so I decided to submit it anyways!...you should go check the challenge out...and help Britta and crew start their new challenge blog off with a bang!!...Good luck...EVERYONE!!!

I bought my first stamps from the Greeting Farm...and I am so happy with them!!...they stamp beautifully...and are really fun to color!!...I guess I was a little intimidated by them...and any stamp that required coloring skin and hair!!...LOL!!...Mine isn't perfect by any means...but it turned out much better than I anticipated!!...here is the peace stamp...{on clearance, bTW....I got her for two bucks!!}...you should go check them out...and see if there are any left!!...I got four rubber stamps plus a digi for like 20 bucks...and part of the total was for shipping!!...not a bad deal at all!!...any how...here's my card!!...

I actually made four more...just like this one...and am working on a box to put them in!!...I had a lot of fun making this set of cards!!

The card base is from CardMakers kit club...it already had the oval punched out...and it has three panels...so behind the image is covered!!...

I stamped the image with Making Memories black ink...I wasn't sure if I could  use Copics with the MM ink...but it worked!!...no smears!!...colored the image with Copics...added Stickles to the peace sign and gems to the flowers in the hair...then cut her out...I used the black Copic to go around the edges of the image...

The Pattern paper is from DCWV's Spring Glitter Stack...I backed the cut-out oval with a piece of the DCWV PP and then used a scalloped Nestie and an oval Nestie...at the same time...and ran it through my die cutting machine to make the scalloped frame...I used Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks to distress all of the edges...

I used a cuttlebug embossing folder and inked one side up with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink...and then laid the card base on it and used a brayer...The swirl stamp is from Stampin' Up's Priceless set...I think...I stamped it on opposite corners with Scrappy Cat's Vanilla Frosting ink...and embossed with white embossing powder....I used ribbon on the corners....

The sentiment is from Hero Art's Sweet Wonderful You....stamped with MM ink...I used a square punch for the banner look....

Have a great night everyone...and you really should rush over to the Greeting Farm and see if there are any stamps left in the clearance section!!

The card base is Bazzill...the solid purple panel is Bazzill Bling...and the pattern  paper is from a DCWV 12 X 12 paper pad...I used a Martha Stewart punch on the purple panel and used scissors to distress the edges...I used Versa Magic Niagara Mist on the edges of both the purple and pattern papers...

I colored the digi with Copics and cut her out...I used the black Copic to go around the edges...so there wasn't any white showing...Glossy Accents was used on the apple and her shoes...I used two little white pearls in her hair!!

Simon Says STAMP-tember Blog Hop

Simon Says Stamp Blog has all of the details about their month long event!!...rush over Here and check it out!!

Here is my card for the ANYTHING challenge:

I love how the background turned out!!...On Splitcoaststampers the challenge for Monday was Embossed Kisses...You were to take a solid rubber stamp and ink it up...then ink the "popped" out side on an embossing folder...and "Kiss" the stamp to the embossing folder...

My DD made a 5" x 7" rubber stamp for me when she was in high  school...I used the back of that rubber stamp and inked it up with Antique Linen Distress Ink...I then Inked the popped out side of the Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder with Always Artichoke Stampin' Up! Ink...and kissed them together!!..I inked the edges with Always Artichoke...and used a Marta Stewart border punch on the bottom of it...I popped the panel up with pop dots....I think it looks like old wallpaper!!...

I used stamps from Gina K Designs' Elegant Flowers and stamped on GKD ivory cardstock...Always Artichoke and Versa Magic Purely Plumeria inks to stamp the flowers...and Spellbinders Label 1 to cut out the panel...I cut the next larger one from Kraft cardstock to layer it on...the edges were first inked with Antique Linen distress Ink and then Always Artichoke...I popped this layer up also!

I stamped the sentiment using Always Artichoke...and used the smallest Scalloped Rectangle Nestie to cut it out...I inked the edges of this also...the peals and ribbon are from my stash!!

I am definitely going to do the "Embossed Kissing" again...there are so many different possibilities..with different colors of ink and embossing folders!!

Have a Great Night!!...and don't forget to check out Simon Says Blog and Store!!

Crafty Steals ~ Sunday School

My cousin had to have a knee replacement today...so this card is for her!!

Here is my cad:

Andreana at Crafty Steals made a card using Gesso and suggested that we try it...I have had a bottle for quite some time and have never really used it...I tried it on a page in the Art Journal I was making but didn't like the results...I really like how this card turn out with the Gesso!!

My card base is Kraft cardstock...I used a Stampin Up! stamp and So Saffron ink to stamp the swirl around the edges of the Kraft and then used clear embossing powder and heat set it... I used a piece of yellow cardstock from Bazzill and painted a thin layer of Gesso on it...I then took a Stamp from the Gina K Designs Bold Flowers set...and stamped in the Gesso while it was still wet...I repeated this,,,cleaning the stamp off each time...until the entire cardstock was covered...then dried it with a heat gun...I was too impatient to wait for it to dry!!...I sprayed some sweet clover Glimmer Mist on it and patted it dry with a paper towel...I used scissors to distress the edges...and pop dots to pop it up...I am so going to do this again!!...I really like the texture of the Gesso!

The sentiment stamps are from CardMakers Kit Club...I used the words "Sending"  "Happy" and "Thoughts"...and stamped them across a piece of Kraft Cardstock in two rows...and used scissors to distress the edges...I stamped the words with Rich Cocoa Momentos ink and used So Saffron to ink the edges...I attached this to the bottom of the card...

I cut a tag shape out of GKD cardstock and used a stamp from Stampin Up! {I'm not sure what the name of the stamp set is} and So Saffron ink and covered the tag...I add a piece of lace with a piece of ribbon over top and used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to adhere them to the tag...I used a hole punch to punch a hole in the top of the tag...and used a brad type thing over the hole and ran a piece of ribbon through it...

I stamped a butterfly with So Saffron ink and cut it out...I used a brown marker to color the body of the butterfly and a brown Copic marker to go around the edges...added a pink Dew Drop...and popped it up with pop dots...I added pink and yellow pearls to the top right and bottom left corners to finish it off!

Thanks for looking...and Have A Great Night!!

Anniversary Card

I am just churning out the cards!!...I think I am done with family members for 2011...My in-laws anniversary is in October...and here is the card I made for them....

{Please excuse the photo quality,,,for some reason I just couldn't get a good, clear photo of this card}

This is a pretty simple card...I love how it turned out!!...The brown cardstock is from Gina K Designs...Its a nice heavy cardstock...so it stands up to just about anything you want to put on it or do to it!!...

I used the Hero Arts Antique Background stamp and light blue Chalk Ink from Color Box and stamped on GKD cardstock...the blue mat is Bazzill Bling...I rounded the corners on the focal panel and added a piece of dotted organza ribbon from my stash...I added  three Prima flowers on the right side of the card with a button and two brads for the centers and I added some Stickles of the flower petals...

I tried stamping the sentiment directly on the card with the same ink as the focal panel...but it just wasn't legible,..It was just too light to see easily...I tried stamping several times using different inks and embossing powders...I wasn't happy with the white embossed sentiment at first...but after walking away for a bit...and getting my Sweetie's opinion, I decided to go with it!!...I stamped the sentiment {Close to My Heart ~ Celebrations} on the same cardstock as the card and heat embossed it with white embossing powder...I inked the edges white also and rounded the corners.

I also finished my DD b-day card today...I will share that tomorrow!!

Have a Great Night!!

Another Christmas Card

I'm on a roll...I finished another Christmas card today!!...I haven't tallied up how many I need total...but I've got a decent start so far!!...here is my card!:

The products used on this card are a little of this and a little of that!!...I am trying to use up older supplies before buying anything new!!...I have a lot of Christmas papers that are a few years old...time to use them up!!

The card base is from DCWV....and the light green panel is a metallic cover that I embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder...the big snowflake is from Hot off the Press and the little ones, I have no idea!!...LOL!!...I used Fired Brick Distress Ink to stamp the snowflakes...I covered the little snowflakes with glitter glue that I made!!...I used a black Copic marker to go around the edges of all of the snowflakes...for the big snowflake...I tried to use embossing powder on it and for some reason the powder didn't stick very well...maybe I need to re-ink my stamp pad...will have to try that....so, since I didn't get a very good embossed image...I used three different colors of glitter glue on it...red, green and copper...and I used a red gem for the center...think it turned out pretty good...

I used some ribbon that has wire on the edges and pleated it for the side of the card...It is white ribbon but looks pink in the pic....I used a metallic red ribbon and adhered a snowflake ribbon on top of it...I had a time with that snowflake ribbon...it started out white so I used a Copic marker to color it...I tried to use it by itself...but just couldn't get it straight....it still isn't perfect, but it looks better than it did!!

I stamped the sentiment on the same green cover as the main panel...again, I don't know who the maker of the greeting stamp is...I did successfully emboss the sentiment...but I used Peeled Paint Distress Ink and clear embossing powder...I also edged the sentiment panel with Peeled Paint Distress Ink...

I added some gems to the top left and lower right sides of the main panel to finish it off!!

Thanks for looking...and have a Great Day!!
